Back for Now

The rarest mammal now found in
North America by human,
The black-footed ferret again
Back from the brink of extinction.
Non natives came and brought some fleas
That carried the sylvatic plague.
Ferrets could not resist disease,
And got right down to the last leg.
A few surviving ferrets found
Near Meeteetse town, Wyoming.
A new vaccine is hopeful bound
For ferrets' repopulating.

North Americans need beware,
Next nasty plague out of nowhere.
