Sense Sonnet - Steamer

Leopold and Loeb

Clarence Darrow, for the defense,
Of killers Leopold and Loeb,
Argued killing them made no sense,
Convinced the judge in his black robe.
Darrow argued in World War I
Killing became too commonplace.
So much of killing had been done.
Humaneness left the human race.
So to prison the killers went,
Thanks to Darrow's impassioned plea.
Maybe the killers would repent.
He earned his million dollar fee.

Kill a killer - Bible says why,
Tooth for a tooth, eye for an eye.
