Sense Sonnet - Pumper

Meigs

The U.S. Capitol Dome sits
Center Washington D.C.
A detail not well known was its
Source of foul feud 'tween domers be.
Tommy Walter, chief architect,
And Monty Meigs, chief engineer,
Wanted glory for the erect.
Amazing the Dome did appear.
The two bickered o'er each detail,
Conniving each to get the fame.
But fame grabbers so often fail.
But one did make a sort of name.

One name's all over the Dome there.
The name, "Meigs" is etched ev'rywhere.
