Sense Sonnet - Pumper

News in Needles

Needles, California - 'twas hot
When we rolled in one afternoon.
We felt that we did have a shot
At setting a world record boon.
And sure enough, straight down we came,
One hundred and fifteen degrees,
That gave the bunch of us the fame -
The hottest ever, if you please.
We were one happy bunch of wet.
A new world record in the bag.
Our destiny had been set.
Raindrops with a reason to brag.

A few of us did hit the ground,
So hot we felt we were hellbound.
