Sense Sonnet - Pumper

The Queen

When her uncle did abdicate
It put her in line to the throne.
In the 50's began her fate -
A life that was not hers alone.
Though symbolic she does remind
The world of the empire once ruled.
Though that glory is now behind,
And royalty is ridiculed,
She still remains somehow above,
Still serving the role that beckoned,
Part of duty and part of love,
Queen Elizabeth the Second.

When Queen Elizabeth has passed,
The English monarch won't last.
