Sense Sonnet - Acher

For the Defense

The attack was an act of war.
Lots of people suffer and die.
The twin towers, no less, no more
Than all the war attacks gone by.
Perhaps not civilized in form,
Agreed by nations in past time.
But certainly close to the norm,
That this attack is not a crime.
Therefore, the jury has no choice
But find defendants innocent.
To give the rule of law the voice.
The victims have no argument.

The suffering is not the test.
War is war. The defense does rest.
