Sense Sonnet - Pumper

Nanny

Nanny was with me as a child.
I'm not sure I knew her real name.
Her manner was so calm and mild,
Guiding me to what I became.
My parents were a busy pair.
For most of my childhood, I had
Only Nanny with whom to share
My times gone by - happy and sad.
I am in the hospital now,
Older and wiser, but quite ill.
I watch as Nanny wipes my brow.
I feel like I am a child still.

I watch her as she disappears.
Nanny's been dead for 50 years.
