Sense Sonnet - Steamer

Displaced

I am a veteran and old.
It's hard for me to get about.
Service honored, I do uphold.
I love my country without doubt.
So on Veteran's Day I went,
As always, to the city hall
To celebrate this good event
With others who served duty's call.
The powers that be did presume
That the seats for them were implied.
I was told there was no more room,
And so I had to stand outside.

When it comes to self serve, I guess,
It's politicians and the press.
