Sense Sonnet - Pumper

Pairable

Mahatma Gandhi and a friend
Were standing on a train platform.
The train came from around the bend.
Whistling its stop as was the norm.
As Gandhi stepped to board the train,
One of his shoes fell to the ground.
He could not reach it, that was plain.
As the wheels started forward bound,
His other shoe he quickly took,
And tossed it near where the first fell.
His friend gave him a puzzled look.
And Gandhi smiled, with this to tell,

"It's good for one to find a shoe,"
"But even better to find two."
