Sense Sonnet - Chiller

 Living the Nursery Rhyme

New York City, lived all my life,

And then Mayor Mamdani came.

Now I am facing lots of strife.

Because I'm white, I get the blame

For too much privilege, and so

My nice apartment which I own

Is taken from me, I must go,

Out into the homeless unknown.

So this old woman wanders out

Into the scary cold and dark,

Such feeling of despair no doubt.

I find myself in Central Park.

There was nothing else I could do,

Now I'm forced to live in a shoe.
