Sense Sonnet - Acher

 Longinus

A Roman soldier, I be one

Who helped nail Jesus to the Cross.

And when they ordered deed be done,

I did not feel any great loss.

We stripped His clothes, I took my share.

"King of the Jews" we wrote a sign,

Put on the Cross above Him there

To taunt the claim He be divine.

Though I be blind I thrust my spear

In piercing blow into His side

To assure myself in such jeer

That this proclaimed King really died.

His blood dripped in my eyes to see

Jesus Christ, believer I be.
