 Getting Up

"Don't anyone get up," I'd hear,

And remember that my Mom would

Say that loudly into my ear.

So getting up, I did get good.

Whenever I'd fall down, I thought

Of my Mom's urging to get up.

I do seem to fall down a lot,

But right back up, I do get, yup!

So here I was stopped in this town,

Remembering what Mom had said,

Kept getting up as I fell down,

But got a dif'rent take instead.

The cop was peeved and to me did say,

"Sobriety tests don't work that way."
