Sense Sonnet - Acher
Soldier's Photo
The soldier's photo's on the wall,
And it was taken just before
He did answer that duty call
By his nation to fight the war.
He was only age twenty two,
Leaving his same age wife behind,
Separations as many do
As demanded by humankind.
I see that photo each time I
Near the mantel of the fireplace.
Why did this soldier have to die?
I see some of me in his face.
This soldier's photo makes me sad
I never got to see my Dad.
