 White Rose

The white rose was the fav'rite of

Aphrodite of long ago,

The ancient Greek goddess of love.

Displays of white roses would show

In her temples in ancient Greece,

Brought by male lovers of all age,

In hope their love would never cease,

If Aphrodite would engage

On his behalf to convince her

That he loved her with all his heart,

Hope that white roses might assure

That he and she would never part.

His gift of white roses does be

His belief a goddess is she.
