Sense Sonnet - Pumper

 Winter Service

This maple tree has been around

For many seasons come and gone.

I feel the coldness in the ground,

Another winter's coming on.

But I am ready for this time.

In my trunk and my roots I've stored

Lots of starch that later will climb

As sugar through my sap, then poured

Out of holes drilled by humans to

Enjoy in maple syrup form.

It is a usefulness I do

To pass my time through winter norm.

Sharing my sugar sap does be

A winter ritual for me.
