Sense Sonnet - Acher

 Saved from Myself

'Twas after midnight when this drunk

Chose to depart Chicago town

With my sad, trashed life being sunk

In Lake Michigan to go down,

Ending the life I'd let become

Ruined by bad choices I'd made.

I sought an easy escape from

Habits that now heavily weighed

Upon my wretched state of mind.

I jumped into the waters deep,

And prayed to God to help me find

Salvation before final sleep.

A loving God did hear my plea

And sent some strangers to save me.
