A moving mosaic on a scale
Of one to ten and is a ten
In each and ev'ry fine detail,
As the snake does move through its den.
Artful pattern of scales laid out
In black and tan and brown and white,
An hypnotic vision no doubt.
Both a lovely and fearsome sight,
African gaboon viper is
A venomous predator, true,
And minds quite well its deadly biz
Here at home in Lincoln Park Zoo.

Through the Covid phenomenon
The closed Zoo works and life goes on.
