With France put the plan in great doubt.
Five hundred years later the plan
For the horse da Vinci had made
Was carried out across time's span.
The sculpture happened, though delayed.
Fifteen tons, twenty four feet high,
The huge bronze horse sculpture now stands
In Milan, and does signify
Da Vinci's dream from others' hands.

Da Vinci would not live to see
"Il Gran Cavallo" come to be.
