Sense Sonnet - Pumper

Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest

Fourth of July, some celebrate
At Coney Island where there be
A contest of most hot dogs ate,
1916 began this spree.
Contestants have 10 minutes to
Stuff down all the dogs that they can.
74 downed dogs now do
Hold the record o'er decades span.
Besides bragging rights, the main prize,
The "bejeweled" mustard yellow belt,
But not for wearing - no surprise,
In taste displayed - not worn as belt.

A very short contest, no doubt.
The dogs go in fast, later out.
