The Sedition Act

1918 the Congress passed
The Sedition Act which did make
Restriction on freedom be cast
For good patriotism sake.
It became a crime to express
Language about the government
Disloyal, profane, abusive - yes.
It was illegal to dissent.
Convicted citizens did go
To jail for this dissent offense.
After a couple of years though
The law did get repealed forthwhence.

2018 - could it be time
To turn dissent into a crime?
