Molt To Do

Penguins do molt, yes penguins do,
Once each year lose all feathers old,
To be replaced by feathers new,
A two week period to unfold.
The first phase is to eat a lot,
In prep for "puffing" it alone.
Being with others is not sought,
Cuz molting is a grumpy zone.
Even the spouse does stay away
To give the molter lots of space,
Who is not a pretty display -
A messy mass in time and place.

The same cute look does reappear,
Until the next molting next year.
