Sense Sonnet - Pumper

Chicago - Ferris Wheel

George Ferris' brainchild - Ferris wheel,
Built for the Chicago World's Fair,
In eighteen ninety three - big deal.
First of its kind as ride affair.
Four years earlier, Paris did
The Eiffel Tower as grand high.
"Out Eiffel Eiffel" George did bid,
And up went wheel into the sky,
Two hundred and sixty four feet.
Twenty one hundred riders could,
At the same time, revolve complete.
For fifty cents the ride was good.

A wheel of fortune for George - not!
Zero profit from it, George got.
