Magna Carta

Magna Carta - Happy Birthday,
800 years and counting still.
If bad King John had had his way,
You'd be shredded as paper will.
But his son Henry did save you,
The Great Charter charting the thing
That common people have rights too.
The law should be above the king.
Remaining still in English law,
An old dry parchment  under glass.
So much of history you saw,
As human ups and downs did pass.

From time to time, humans do quote
Of democracy that you wrote.
