African Americans did
Vote Republican early on.
But now most of their voting grid
To the Democrats long has gone.
Eleanor Roosevelt, some say,
In her support of civil rights,
Single handedly paved the way
For blacks making party change flights.
The first First Lady who did act
To really, truly integrate.
Blacks came to the White House - a fact -
She'd go greet them at the front gate.

Republicans lost a voting bloc,
Because Eleanor did more than talk.
