In 1960, government,
U.S.D.A. to be exact
Told what middle classes had spent
After the consummating act
Until the age of 17.
A bunch of bucks it takes to raise
A kid that's growing 'twist and 'tween
Bundle of joy through hormone phase.
The pie chart shows that basic needs
Stay close in overall percent,
But education piece proceeds
To balloon on what has been spent.

It costs much more to educate.
Many don't do 3Rs too great!
