Sense Sonnet - Steamer

Out in D.C.

D.C. is a world of its own,
As far as the powers that be.
The powerless within its zone
Do not get too much sympathy.
Citizens want rights of a state,
Thinking that is at least their due,
That would surely improve their fate,
Having their very own screw crew.
But not likely to happen soon,
The D.C. powerless are just
Like losers shooting for the moon,
Hardly a powers that be must.

The powers that be tax and spend.
D.C. is their world without end.
