Sense Sonnet - Acher

Duck Out

The duck quacks on even though lame,
Bullied by the left and the right.
It's just too tired to play the game.
'Tis eleventh hour of night.
Let a fresh duck carve out the deal
To keep the taxpayers in check,
Thinking that Congress is for real,
For a little while - what the heck!
It's time to call this season dead,
Replaced by a shiny teacup
Full of conserv bags - so they said.
Just go home and shut the duck up.

This lame duck if flat on its back
About to sputter its last quack.
