Knit Snit

We were intended to be a pair
Of socks knit by Grace Kelly for
Clark Gable as a gift to wear.
But Grace found the knitting a bore,
And tried to hurry us along,
Until the knit did hit the fan,
And all about us did go wrong,
As Grace, frustrated in her plan,
Did to us rip and tear and shred
Into a ball of tangled kink.
She stared at us and then she said,
"You look okay - what do you think?"

We did not give a second thought
And replied, "We are a frayed knot!"
