I was in my basement one day,
And saw a shadow moving round.
I called the cops. To my dismay,
A man in my basement they found.
The only way he could be there
Was coming from the upstairs down.
It seemed that with him, I did share
Lots of stuff, even a night gown.
I know the cops had a hard time
Believing that I did not know
That in my home there was this crime,
Right there in my basement below.

Disbelief wove in with my fears.
He'd lived in my basement for years.
