Incentive

The Pilgrims came to the new world.
Socialism was the first way
They tried to survive. Ill unfurled.
Some worked hard. Some did only play.
But all fruits of labor were shared
Equally amongst the whole host.
That meant the undeserving fared
As well as those who worked the most.
With no incentive to succeed,
The Pilgrims failed. So they tried out
That each kept what each earned. Indeed!
That's how Thanksgiving came about.

The Pilgrims gave both ways the test,
And capitalism proved best.
